Portions of Clear Creek Canyon Park are closed to all public use from February 1 through July 31 to protect nesting eagles. For the most up-to-date info, CLICK HERE to visit the Jefferson County Open Space website. This closure includes the following rock climbing sites:
Due to the construction on the Peaks 2 Plains bike path in Clear Creek Canyon, there will be delays when driving through the canyon for the foreseeable future. Construction workers narrow the roadway to a one lane road, so there is typically only a 10-15 minute delay, but it can last up to 30 minutes on Fridays. This delay is Monday through Friday year-around. If you are coming from Golden and are climbing up by tunnel 5 and 6, it's recommended that you take I-70 to get there.
The Peaks 2 Plains construction crews have also shut down many parking areas to crags while they work on the trail, but also some parking areas may never open again. New Hipster and Sports Wall can now be accessed by Tunnel 1 parking, on the east side of the tunnel. For The Long Stretch, most of the parking has been shut down, but you can find some small pull-offs on the north side of the road.
